Steve started his secondhand journey in the early 1980s. Initially buying and selling at local weekend flea markets in Kent, then, when boot sales/fairs became popular, travelling further afield.
It soon became apparent there was a market for the weird and wonderful so, as well as the regular boot sale things, Steve would visit auction rooms to look for unusual items to sell at his stall.
Over time, the amount of stock that had been accumulated became too much to take from market to market, even in a large van, so, in 2009, Steve set out to look for a permanent base from which to sell his eclectic merchandise. He found a shop situated on a corner of a busy street in the East of England town of Lowestoft, and set the wheels in motion to get everything together.
As opening day approached, a name would be needed for the shop. After a bit of deliberation, a phrase that was often heard being said by customers from the early bootsales and flea market days was recalled which seemed perfect - “this is quite interesting”, they would say as they browsed his stall. It was that penny-drop moment that decided the name of the shop - which is still being used today.
